Turn the garage you fill with junk into a room you will actually use.
Be honest, how often does the car go in the garage? For most people the answer is never. The garage ends up as a damp store for bikes, boxes and the lawnmower, while the family could really do with another usable room. A garage conversion is one of the most cost-effective changes you can make, because the four walls and the roof are already there.
Prince Builders have been converting garages across Woking and Surrey since 1998. Whether it is an attached single garage or one built into the house, we turn it into a warm, dry, properly finished room that feels like part of the home rather than a draughty add-on.
Because so much of the structure already exists, a conversion is usually quicker and cheaper than building from scratch, and it does not touch your garden. For a lot of families it is the easiest extra room they will ever gain.

A garage was never built to be lived in, so the real work is in fixing that. Garage floors usually sit lower than the rest of the house and the walls are often single skin with no insulation, so we build the floor up to the right level, insulate it and tie it in with the rooms next door. The walls get insulated and lined, and we deal with any damp properly rather than just painting over it, because damp is the most common problem we find in old garages.
Infilling the old garage door opening is a key part of the job. We brick or block it up, usually adding a window or a door, and finish the outside so it sits well with the rest of the house. Inside we sort the wiring, the heating, the plastering and the decorating so you end up with a room that is warm in winter and properly part of your home.
Garage conversions usually count as permitted development, so a full planning application often is not needed, but the work still has to meet building regulations on insulation, fire safety and ventilation. A building inspector signs it off, and we handle that side for you.
A garage makes a brilliant home office, far enough from the noise of the house to actually get work done. It is just as good as a gym, a playroom for the children, a quiet snug or a hobby room. With the plumbing run in, an integral garage can also become a handy utility room, freeing up space in the kitchen.
If you need a bedroom, a converted garage can do that too, as long as it meets the regulations on escape and ventilation, and we will tell you upfront whether yours is suitable. For some homes a garage conversion works best as part of a bigger plan, sitting alongside a home extension or a loft conversion to reshape how the whole house works. We are happy to talk through the options and find the one that gives you the most for your money.

A garage conversion looks simple, but getting it warm, dry and signed off takes a proper builder. Here is why people choose us.
We do plenty of integral-garage conversions over in Camberley, turning that space beside the house into a usable room, with more of the same around Weybridge. We work out from Woking across the rest of Surrey and South West London. The same conversions are regular work for us in Woking, Ascot, Cobham, Weybridge and Virginia Water, where integral garages are common and very rarely used for a car.
Whether your garage becomes an office, a gym or a spare bedroom, we will come and look at the space and tell you honestly what it is best suited to.
